01A valid driving licence for the right vehicle class
You need a driving licence that covers the vehicle you are renting: a car licence for a car and a motorcycle licence for a geared bike or scooter. A learner's licence is generally not accepted for self-drive rentals. Check the expiry date well before your trip, and make sure the name matches your other ID.
02A government photo ID
Keep a government-issued photo ID handy for identity verification. On RaideX this is checked once, in the app, before your first booking, together with a live photo for face matching. You won't need to hand your ID documents to the host.
03Carry the originals on the trip
Traffic police can ask to see your licence at any time, so carry the original or an officially recognised digital copy, such as the version stored in DigiLocker or mParivahan. The vehicle's registration, insurance and pollution certificate are the host's responsibility and should be in the vehicle or available digitally.
04If you're visiting from abroad
Visitors usually need a valid licence from their home country together with an International Driving Permit, and their passport. Requirements can change, so confirm them before you travel.
05Leave time for verification
Identity checks are quick when the photos are clear, but don't leave them to the morning of the trip. Complete verification as soon as you create your account, so booking the vehicle you want takes a few taps when you need it.
